Colonia Sant Jordi

Holidays

Colonia Sant Jordi is hard to match for a peaceful and sun-drenched beach holiday. Often referred to as Port de Campos, it's a smallish resort that retains much of its original village charm. Perfect for exploring this magnificent island it centres on a gorgeous, stretch of coastline and has the sublime advantage of being within easy driving distance of some of Majorca's most stunning beaches all washed by shimmering waters which are perfect for lazy swimming and paddling. The resort's beach - Sa Platja - is quite small, but it's home to good facilities should you just want to stay put. Should you fancy getting out and about the resort is home to a pretty marina and fishing harbour, but what most attracts visitors are the fabulous natural beaches of Es Trenc, Sa Rapita and Es Dolc. These three are considered to be the best on the island and their white sands and turquoise waters backed by pine forests are quite spectacular. They'll have you thinking you've landed in the Caribbean! Es Dolc is within walking distance whilst the other two can be reached by car. The sunshine hours are all about boat trips, sunbathing and swimming at the remarkable beaches along this coast. Come the evening, you can dine in one of the restaurants scattered around the atmospheric marina area before heading to a local bar for a night cap. Nightlife here is a far from the usual type of bustling resort...it's mostly about quiet dinners overlooking the sea, although a few bars and hotels offer livelier options when you're in an extrovert mood. You'll have a great choice of day trips too. Visit the weekly market held in the resort each Wednesday, enjoy a trip to the Botanical gardens which also has the largest navigated lake on the island or hire a car and explore the coast and inland towns and villages. You can also catch the ferry from the fishing harbour to the island of Cabrera.
