More DealsGran Canaria: Introduction
Gran Canaria is in the centre the Canary Islands, a Spanish archipelago, situated between Tenerife to the West and Fuerteventura to the East.
Gran Canaria has the biggest of the islands' populations, with over 741,000 inhabitants, almost half of whom live in the capital
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. As a result, the city is also generally considered to be the most cosmopolitan in the Canaries.
Being of volcanic origin, the round shaped island has a diverse landscape, where rugged and deep ravines run down to the beautiful
coastline, which boasts many kilometres of clear, sandy beaches. This diversity is the reason Gran Canaria is often referred to as
a continent in minature.
Gran Canaria enjoys a warm climate all year round, with average annual temperatures at sea level fluctuating between 18 - 25 C

Went to the Botanical Gardens, well worth a visit and also to the museum in Las Palmas.Went to the Botanical Gardens, well worth a visit and also to the museum in Las Palmas but must say it was difficult to find. We also went up to Galder, a lovely little town in the mountains. Also visited Porto Morgan and went to the Irish restaurant and had John Dory - the best meal we had. The Don Quitox restaruant in the harbour area of Porto Rico is well worth a visit, it was fully booked every night we were there so it must be good! Always hire a car if possible as there are so many lovely towns in the mountains. Try not to be too scared of driving on the winding roads although the local buses seems to go anywhere you wish to visit. - Madeline Napper
