Tenerife: Introduction

The Canary Islands are a Spanish archipelago marooned in the Atlantic, off the West Coast of Morocco.

Part of the Anaga Mountains, which divide the island in half, the now extinct volcano, El Teide, reaches 12,188 ft, making it the highest point in Spain.

In complete contrast, the almost lunar-like terrain in the south, is dry and filled with enormous cactuses and other desert flora.
