baggage - Delayed/Lost/Damaged/Items left on-board your flight

Delayed Baggage

If your baggage cannot be carried on a flight, Monarch will arrange to transport it to your destination subject to availability of flights.

Please go to the Baggage Services desk in the arrivals hall to make our agent aware that your luggage has not arrived, and obtain a Property Irregularity Report (PIR).

You can view the progress of your baggage online, using our Baggage Tracing Facility by entering your Property Irregularity Report (PIR) reference number here.

Some of our Handling Agents have their own online tracing service; please ask at your destination if this facility is available.

Our Handling Agent at the arrival airport is responsible for the tracing of your delayed luggage for the first five days. You should have been provided with a contact number for the airport`s baggage services desk, but if not, a full list of contact telephone numbers can be found here.

Should your baggage not be located within 5 days, please contact our Secondary Tracing Department at zbsecondarytracing@airlineluggageclaims.com or call 0333 577 0330 (Option 1) Opening hours: 0830-1800

Lost Baggage

Monarch will search for your baggage for a total of 21 days. It is recommended that you contact your travel insurance company as soon as possible.

Monarch will accept liability for delayed, lost or damaged baggage in accordance with the Montreal Convention which governs airlines around the world.

We would, however, always recommend that you contact your own travel insurance company as your policy may be more comprehensive than that of our liability under the Montreal Convention as detailed in our terms and conditions. It is always best to obtain adequate travel insurance before you fly.

Damaged Baggage

In the unfortunate event your baggage is damaged, you will need to report this at the airport and obtain a Property Irregularity Report. Once you have obtained a report please register your details online at www.damagedluggage.com within 7 days.

If you did not report the damage before leaving the airport, please ensure that you contact us within 7 days by email at collections@damagedluggage.com alternatively call us on 0044 (0) 1279 813000 (Option 2) within 7 days.

We suggest that you contact your travel insurance company in the first instance, as your policy should have more comprehensive cover than offered by the airline under the Montreal Convention. Your insurer may require you to report this incident to the Police.
