We have put together a selection of car hire symbols to help you decide if it is advisable to hire a car during your stay. However, whichever villa you choose, having a car to explore the local area is sure to help you get the best from your holiday, especially in low season when some local amenities may be closed. The villas are categorized into the following:-
Car Hire Essential
This symbol means the villa is situated away from a resort centre or in a rural location and not close enough to bars/restaurants or beaches for guests to access them comfortably without a car. We advise that for these villas car hire is essential to getting the best from your holiday.
Car Hire Optional
This symbol means the villa is within a 20 minute walking distance of restaurants, bars or shops, or a resort centre and sometimes a beach. Having a car will enhance the guests resort experience, making shopping trips and outings easier.
Car Hire Not Required
This symbol means the villa is located near or in a resort centre or a short walk from shops, restaurants, bars and usually a beach. Guests may wish to hire a car to explore further afield
We work with top car hire companies to ensure we provide competitive prices at the best quality.
Car categories and sizes
Each car group has a different range of makes and models by destination and are booked by group type and not specific makes. Cars are subject to availability, In the event of a car group not being available an alternative vehicle of the same group or higher will be provided. Car group names may differ from car group names used by our car provider.
Booking car hire
Car hire can be booked in the UK. You do not need to pay an extra deposit when you book, however the full amount must be paid with the holiday balance.
If you are booking car hire within 72 hours of departure, please phone our call centre to check availability on 0871 423 8417 (Calls to this number cost 10 pence per minute from a standard BT landline. Calls from other networks and mobiles may vary.).
Picking up your car
Most of our suppliers are conveniently located in our arrival airports and all cars must be collected and returned to the airport.
In Gozo the car will be delivered and picked up from your villa.
In Fuerteventura you will be transferred from the airport to the car hire depot, which is approximately 2 kms away. Your car will be waiting for you.
In Tenerife you will be transferred from the airport to the car hire depot, which is just a 2 minute drive from the airport. Your car will be waiting for you.
All customers will be required to leave a deposit to cover the insurance excess and fuel charge. Please ensure you have a valid credit card (American Express/Diners Club/Debit cards are only accepted in certain resorts) in the name of the lead driver with you upon collection. Please also ensure you have your valid driving licence with you, which you have held for at least one year.
If you have booked the villa and flights with us, you will be able to pick up your directions from our representatives at the airport. For holidays to the Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol your directions will be sent to you.
Car hire price includes:-
- Unlimited mileage
- Collision damage waiver – excess applies for certain car groups
- Theft waiver – excess applies
- Liability insurance
- Local taxes and airport surcharge
- One additional driver free (not in Menorca)
Car hire price excludes:-
- Baby/child seat – payable locally
- Additional driver(s) – payable locally
- Delivery/collection to accommodation
- One way rental charges
- Fuel
- Parking/traffic fines
- Out of hours charges
Late returns
Car rentals are based on a 24-hour period, any late returns will be charged locally.
Luggage
When choosing a particular car group/car size, please remember to take into account the space needed to accommodate infant/child seats and also luggage, you may need to choose a larger car or hire more than one car.
Minimum age
Minimum driving age is usually 21, however this does vary by resort and there are age restrictions on certain car types. Please check the individual car group by destination for details.

- For 4 x 4 and large van car groups the minimum driver age is 25 and you must have had your licence for a minimum of 3 years.
- For premium car groups you must have had your licence for a minimum of 2 years.

- We strongly recommend that you hire a car for the duration of your stay, as many of our villas are rurally located.
- You will be met on arrival at Malta airport and transferred to the ferry. You will travel across to Gozo as a foot passenger. In Gozo you will be transferred to your villa where your car will be waiting for you.
