When you think of Israel, you might not picture a busy, cosmopolitan, modern city. Tel Aviv is Israel’s second largest city and is exactly that – imagine luxury resorts, world-class shopping and restaurants, a lively nightlife and beautiful golden sand beaches. Flights to Tel Aviv are more popular than ever, and is one of the hottest holiday spots this year.
Tel Aviv rivals all the major cities – you’ll find bars and nightclubs along Tel Aviv Port, iconic shopping and food markets at the Dizengoff Center, galleries and restaurants in Neve Tzedek and Joshua Gardens, a beautiful park in Northern Tel Aviv. One of the most-loved attractions in Tel Aviv is the beach – a long 14km stretch of golden sand and warm ocean waters. Perfect for relaxing, but having a cosmopolitan city right on the doorstep.
" There are often events and festivals happening in town. ‘White Night’ sees museums and galleries open all night long, and the flea markets put on special late night shows during summer. "
Lewis, Cabin Crew
You can’t go to Tel Aviv without hitting the shops! For international brands, head to Kikar Hamedina’s He B’lyar Street, while local Israeli designer labels are found in the northern end of Dizengoff Street. For special handcrafted souvenirs and jewellery, wander around HaTachana, a renovated train station turned cultural shopping centre. For one-of-a-kind finds, head to Jaffa’s famous flea market, Shuk Ha Pishpishim.
Tel Aviv has a never-ending nightlife. Restaurants are abundant, with menus covering international and local cuisine.
Jerusalem is only an hour drive from Tel Aviv and well worth a visit to see its famous religious and historical sites. To the south of Tel Aviv is Eilat, another beautiful beach resort bordering the Red Sea. To visit here is easy by flying to Ovda.
