Madeira highlights

Garden Island

Known as ‘The Garden Island’, visitors can explore several exquisitely cultivated gardens, such as the The Quinta do Palheiro Ferreiro Park, cultivated in British colonial style, and the Madeira Botanical Gardens, a hillside garden that features more than 2000 plants, along with an amazing view of Funchal. The gardens are also home to flocks of parakeets and parrots. If you enjoy wild nature, you might also consider exploring Laurisilva forest, a UNESCO Natural Heritage Site, in the centre of Madeira Island, and plenty of hiking and cycling paths to get you in and amongst this natural beauty.

Beaches

For those of you looking for a beach, the Madeira Island has great beaches and fantastic water sports to offer, alongside busy resorts with bars and nightclubs. For more beautiful beaches, head to Porto Santo island, the smaller of the two populated islands of the Madeira archipelago.
