Villa Magda Introduction
This lovely stone-built villa has real wow factor. Tucked into the sleepy inland village of Eleftherna, it sits in a tranquil spot and although only recently built has been designed to evoke the feel of an authentic Cretan cottage.
Step inside and you are greeted with lots of exposed stone, wooden ceiling rafters and olde-worlde fixtures. The front door opens into a charming open-plan living and dining room set with traditional floor tiles and antique dark-wood furniture. A chaise longue and rustic fireplace take pride of place, while on the other side of the room, there is a polished wood dining table and chairs seating four. A stone archway from the living space links to the well-equipped kitchen, which has a pine table and farmhouse style units.
A staircase takes you upstairs to the two simply furnished but relaxing bedrooms, the double opening to a balcony with fabulous views over inland Crete. The same views are a standout feature of the pretty pool terrace and bordering lawns. Reached by doors that lead from the dining room onto a covered verandah, the pool is framed by a huge terrace, which is perfectly positioned to showcase the magnificent scenery.
The villa is ideally placed for exploring rural Crete, with mountain walks and villages close at hand. Shops and tavernas can be found in Eleftherna and nearby Magarites, while Rethymnon, with its sandy beach and waterfront restaurants, is a half hour drive away.
