Set away from bustling resorts on Kefalonia's southern coast, between the gorgeous village of Skala and Katelios, Aliki is an escapist's dream.

Backed by eye popping mountains and fringing an awe-inspiring bay, this quaint little place is a great base for exploring and comprises of just a few villas in the lush hillsides. Although there's no real village centre or beach, the local area of Skala comes up trumps. Along the shoreline, the pale sands and shingle of the beaches and secluded bays slope into shallow, child-friendly waters. Skala's village is perfect for peaceful days strolling along the water's edge and quaint narrow streets, people watching from pavement cafés, followed by a meal in one of the friendly tavernas. When you feel energetic, there are watersports like paragliding and jet-skis, whilst the narrow streets beyond host a scattering of arty shops selling crafts and pretty ceramics for a morning or two's browsing.

Or spend your days exploring rustic villages, visiting the ruins of Skala's Old Town and charming fishing port. At night, return to Katelios or Skala to enjoy evenings admiring the radiant Ionian sunsets and all around the neighbouring coast. The evening's here are sleepy, with most visitors enjoying lingering in a starlit taverna enjoying a sumptuous Greek meal, followed by a drink or two in a cosy bar.
