There's plenty of shopping to be had in Lefkas, but don't expect packed streets filled with department stores. Retail therapy here is strictly, authentically Greek with most resorts offering colourful beachwear outlets, mini-markets full of touristy trinkets and a few jewellery shops. For more serious shopping, Lefkas Town is the biggest draw. In the traffic-free main street here you'll find lots of interesting gift shops, boutiques, galleries and jewellers to browse around and buy souvenirs. Favourite take-homes include the island's intricate lace and crochet-work and pretty ceramics, as well as bright, 'been-to Lefkas' T-shirts and treats like Greek liqueurs.
As it's still hardly touched by mass tourism, Lefkas offers endless opportunities to enjoy time-honoured Greek cuisine. In Nidri, the liveliest resort, you'll find numerous British-style eateries, but otherwise all the villages and towns, including Lefkas Town, have tempting tavernas where you can feast on classic Greek meze - small starter dishes - like tsatsiki along with a refreshing ouzo, before tucking into charcoal-grilled souvlaki, stuffed tomatoes and luscious fresh fish and seafood such as grilled octopus and kalamari. Snacks-wise, try a delicious spinach pie or maybe settle at a traditional bar to try some strong Greek coffee - it'll certainly wake you up!
Lefkas offers lots of variety when it comes to evening entertainments. Most visitors go the Greek way, with relaxed, starlit dinners at beach and harbourside tavernas, sometimes rounding things off at one of the many venues hosting colourful Greek dancing and bouzouki shows. If you're out for livelier times, Nidri overflows with music bars, karaoke joints and discos whilst Lefkas Town also offers energetic nightspots and fun-filled bars to keep you up late.
