Locally made goods are very reasonably priced and available in most resorts. They often make unusual gifts and range from olive wood statues, to lace and leather goods. Pottery and ceramics make good buys, as does the locally produced olive oil. Head for Gaios for the widest selection of shopping.
Along with many of the Greek Islands, the best way to appreciate the great variety of Greek specialities is by ordering a meze which will consist of small local plates of dips as well as local fish and meat dishes for the whole family to enjoy. Taverna and restaurants offer a wide varierty of local and international cuisine.
Nightlife here is generally relaxed and low-key, with much evening activity centred around a selection of charming waterfront tavernas. The area surrounding Gaios harbour is the focus of livelier entertainment, with a handful of discos open during the Summer months.
