Koukounaries : Holiday Accommodation
Koukounaries is the place for beach babes on Skiathos. The island's most photographed beach, it's a dreamy, kilometre-long crescent of sands ranged around a wooded bay. The soft sands melt into sapphire, shallow waters, whilst the pines behind offer cooling shade, creating a perfect day-long haven for families and sunbathers. Dotted along the shores, you'll find friendly cafes and tavernas, as well as watersports like windsurfing and water-skiing, whilst further behind the sands, more shops, bars and restaurants await. Come evening, the atmosphere stays low-key, with the local hotels providing most entertainments, although many people head for Skiathos Town, 12 kilometres away, for its ebullient nightlife. The capital also makes a fantastic day trip with its funky boutiques and cafes, whilst outdoor types will love Koukounaries' scenic nature reserve, teeming with birds and fascinating wildlife.
