Lake Garda: Introduction
Said to be one of Europe’s most astounding sights, a trip to Italy’s largest lake is a holiday not to be missed. Just a short trip from the city of Verona and set within a backdrop of picturesque olive and citrus groves, the majestic Alps and a number of quaint villages and towns, Lake Garda is an astounding sight for visitors from all parts of the world.
A Lake Garda holiday package is a great option for young and old alike, boasting a variety of culture, entertainment, fine cuisine and family-friendly activities.
Reasons to visit
Aside from inspiring authors and artists, Lake Garda is an inspirational travel spot for holidaymakers too. It’s an extremely versatile holiday destination and one that boasts a wealth of opportunities to explore the surrounding area.
Our resorts in Lake Garda provide a great base for anyone wishing to travel further afield including trips to the smaller lakes of Iseo, Ledro and Tenno. Other nearby places of interest include Mantova, Trent, Brescia and of course, Verona.
The warm climate, breathtaking countryside and the historic buildings make this a great holiday hotspot for all people of all ages.
Things to see and do
Aside from indulging in the stunning scenery and breathtaking views, Lake Garda is also home to a number of watersports. Paragliding, hang-gliding and windsurfing are all popular here but if you prefer to stay on dry land then hiring a mountain bike and enjoying a leisurely tour of the surrounding scenery is highly recommended.
Hiring a car is a great option too and will allow you to explore the many winding roads and tunnels which ultimately take you through the Gardone Rivieria and beyond. However, you don’t need to go far to enjoy Lake Garda’s beauty. A number of the nearby chocolate-box villages and modern towns offer all the amenities you could ever need.
From an abundance of museums and art galleries to water sports on the lake, you’ll never be bored in this beautiful region.
If you need to relax then spending the entire day swimming in one of the lidos with the incredible backdrop of the picturesque mountains is guaranteed to suffice.
For families a trip to Gardaland – the area’s famous theme park – is a must.
Lake Garda boasts an extremely pleasant climate, which makes it an ideal location in which to both sightsee and relax. July is the hottest month to visit, whilst January is the coldest.
The mountains are said to act as an insulator and the lake as a huge solar panel, which makes the weather largely Mediterranean.
