2009 News - Flights - A strong month for passengers on Monarch’s scheduled services

Award winning low fares airline Monarch reported strong passenger numbers for April 2009, with the airline carrying 319,867 passengers on its scheduled services, representing a 10.53% increase vs April 2008.

The higher passenger figure was aided by increased capacity resulting from the launch of a new service between Birmingham and Larnaca as well as the re-introduction of services from Birmingham, Gatwick and Manchester to Menorca; from Birmingham, Luton and Manchester to Majorca and from Birmingham to Murcia.

Monarch’s passenger statistics for scheduled services during April 2009:

Passenger numbers (1):

April 2009: 319,867

April 2008: 289,393

% change: +10.53%

Load factor (2):

April 2009: 79.42%

April 2008: 79.14%

% change: +0.28%

Internet sales percentage (3):

April 2009: 87%

April 2008: 88%

% change: -1%

Overall, for both scheduled and charter services, Monarch carried a total of 436,797 passengers during April 2009.
