2010 News - Flights - Monarch to sponsor Inghams 75th anniversary ski race in Lake Louise

15 03 2010

Award winning leisure airline Monarch is to sponsor the final winter ski race in Inghams 75th anniversary event series, which is being held in Lake Louise on 22 March 2010. Monarch, who will this year enter its 42nd year of flying and is the principle independent provider of charter seats to tour operators in the UK, has worked alongside Inghams for over 20 years to support their successful holiday programme.

The Lake Louise ski race, which is the fifth and final ski event to take place during the winter season will be open to Inghams’ guests, staff and suppliers of all abilities. Participants will be looking to claim one of the many coveted race titles and win a selection of fantastic ski related prizes, including Monarch flights to Calgary.

Commenting on the successful partnership with Inghams, Sales Director of Monarch Airlines, Alan Murray, said “Monarch has been a longstanding partner of Inghams and we are delighted to be supporting them as they celebrate their 75th year of operation. The final ski race in Lake Louise will undoubtedly prove to be a huge success and is a fantastic opportunity for Monarch to demonstrate its continued commitment to Inghams and their guests.”

Also commenting on the partnership, Litsa Constantinou, Chief Executive, Inghams said “Inghams is proud to be celebrating its 75th anniversary and have certainly come a long way since Walter Ingham advertised his first hosted ski trip in 1934. Ultimately this milestone could not have been reached without the unwavering support from our long standing partner, Monarch, and of course our loyal customers. The 75th anniversary ski races are a fantastic way to celebrate in resort and we are delighted that Monarch is supporting the final race in Lake Louise which promises to be a huge success.”
In addition to flights to Calgary, Monarch also operates a wide range of short haul European ski flights on behalf of Inghams. The airline operates a fleet of 31 aircraft, serving over 100 destinations world-wide. Services are split between scheduled and charter flights and carry almost 6.5 million passengers per year. Monarch is the oldest airline in the UK still operating under its original brand name.
