Award winning airline Monarch is delighted to be the first low fares airline to support the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s (FCO) ‘Know Before You Go’ campaign, to assist holidaymakers in staying safe overseas.

The campaign aims to provide the Great British travelling public with advice and information before they travel to ensure they have an enjoyable and trouble-free time whilst abroad. Monarch is the first low fares airline to include the ‘Know Before You Go’ messaging on its website and within customer e-mails to advise on the following top tips:

• Ensure that adequate travel insurance is purchased, even if only a short trip is planned
• Check what vaccinations or medication may be needed by visiting www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk, your travel health clinic or GP, at least six weeks prior to travel
• Research your destination including local laws and customs – see www.fco.gov.uk/travel for specific country travel advice
• Check your passport is in good condition and valid, and you have all necessary visas
• Make photocopies of your passport, visas and insurance details and leave a copy with a relative or friend at home
• Register with the FCO’s ‘Locate’ service to record where you are travelling to enable them to find you efficiently in an emergency – www.fco.gov.uk/locate
