2011 News - Flights - Statement from Monarch regarding the abolition of excessive card fees

23 12 2011

Managing Director of Monarch Airlines, Kevin George says, “Monarch Airlines welcomes the Government’s decision to abolish excessive debit and credit card fees from the end of 2012.  In a move that was welcomed by the OFT and its customers, Monarch Airlines took the decision in June 2011 to remove all debit card fees and to introduce a fixed £10 credit card fee when booking flights, regardless of the value of the transaction or the number of passengers travelling.

“In these difficult economic times, there is absolutely no justification advertising one fare and then charging consumers with hidden excessive fees.  It is great that the Government is now supporting this and forcing other companies to follow Monarch’s lead.”
