10 10 2011
Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2 is to become the new home for Monarch Airlines as it switches its operations from Terminal 1.
The move will take place on the evening of Monday 14th November 2011 so that all departing and arriving Monarch customers will be welcomed at Terminal 2 on the morning of Tuesday 15th November 2011.
Monarch’s new home in Terminal 2 will see customers benefit from a dedicated check-in area offering more space, a refined check-in process and streamlined services in addition to same level access from car, bus and taxi drop off points to departures. Terminal 2 is Manchester’s newest terminal and offers a wide range of eateries and shopping facilities including high street shops such as Boots, Monsoon and Dixons.
Commenting on the move to Terminal 2, Managing Director of Monarch Airlines, Kevin George said, “We are one of the largest operators at Manchester airport and are committed to providing customers with the best possible travel experience and facilities. The move to Terminal 2 will enable us to do this by offering a ground product that better matches our customer’s expectations especially with a new dedicated check-in area and an improved experience through the terminal.”
Also commenting on the Terminal move, Andrew Harrison, Manchester Airport’s Managing Director, said: “Monarch Airlines and Manchester Airport have a long standing relationship that dates back to the mid 1960’s and they are now one of the largest operators here. Their move to Terminal 2 is an exciting new era for Monarch. T2 is our newest terminal and has had a multi-million pound injection in recent years, including state of the art security equipment, a range of new eateries and a new retail offering. The result in T2 has been that it is constantly being voted top of our independent passenger surveys and the infrastructure and layout of T2 is designed for the fleet of aircraft that Monarch fly.”
Monarch currently operates a fleet of 11 aircraft offering both scheduled and charter flights from Manchester airport. Monarch offers scheduled flights from Manchester to a range of destinations throughout Mainland Spain, the Canary and Balearic Islands, Portugal, Gibraltar, Cyprus, Turkey and Egypt. Monarch is the oldest airline in the UK still operating under its original brand name, and has this year entered its 43rd year of flying.
