Scheduled European leisure airline Monarch has today announced that it is to partner with Northampton Saints Rugby Club today as the airline joins the club’s group of Elite Sponsors and will be supporting them in their quest for glory this season.

Over the past 130 years Northampton Saints has established itself as one of the biggest rugby clubs in the world, with its distinctive black, green and gold colours worn proudly by members of the Saints Nation wherever they go. The club combines setting world-class standards on and off the pitch with a strong recognition of its roots in the community of Northampton, and relationships with supporters, players and sponsors alike last a lifetime.

In recent years the Saints has gone from strength to strength, winning the European Challenge Cup in 2009, the LV= Cup in 2010 and reaching the Heineken Cup final in 2011. Earlier this year eight members of the playing squad represented four countries at the Rugby World Cup, with one of them, winger Chris Ashton, ending up as the tournament’s top try scorer.

Monarch Airlines has signed an initial one-season deal which will enable them to support the Saints throughout the 2011/12 season and will see the company logo appear on the right breast of the Saints’ home, away and Cup shirts. Both parties are confident however that this will be the start of a long and mutually beneficial relationship for them.
