Leading scheduled leisure airline Monarch saw its passenger numbers soar in October 2011, with almost 480,000 customers travelling to hotspots across Europe and the Mediterranean, a 12% increase on the same month last year.
The soaring passenger numbers were assisted by Monarch’s new service from Gatwick to the cosmopolitan city of Barcelona which launched with a daily service on 21 October and increased to 11 flights a week from 30 October 2011.
Monarch’s passenger statistics for scheduled services during October 2011:

1. Represents the number of earned seats flown by Monarch. Earned seats include seats that are flown whether or not the passenger turns up because once a flight has departed a no-show customer is not entitled to change flights or seek a refund.
2. Represents the number of passengers as a proportion of the number of seats available for passengers.
