(Luton, UK – 02, May 2014)  Monarch, the leading scheduled airline to leisure destinations, today celebrates the start of summer with new routes from four UK bases, two new A321 Airbus aircraft, new cabin crew as well as taking advantage of Monarch’s summer sale with up to £25 off return flights.

This week Monarch will launch ten new routes, including some new destinations for the airline from four UK bases. A brand new destination, Enfidha in Tunisia, located midway between Tunis and Monastir, will operate twice a week (Wednesdays and Sundays) from both Manchester and London Gatwick airports. Agadir becomes Monarch Airline’s first Moroccan destination, with twice weekly flights from Manchester airport (Tuesdays and Saturdays).

Monarch Airlines will operate a twice weekly service to Hurghada (Tuesdays and Fridays) from Birmingham, London Gatwick and Manchester airports from 2nd May 2014. The established Birmingham to Nice route will be complemented by a five-times-a-week service (Thursdays through to Mondays) to the French Riviera from London Gatwick Airport.

Naples flights will be twice weekly (Mondays and Fridays) from both Manchester and London Luton airports. New flights from London Luton airport to the much-loved Turkish city of Antalya will launch from the 2nd May with flights three times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.)

The Monarch Airlines fleet will be increasing in size to 42 aircraft, including two brand new Airbus A321s.

Director of Customer Experience & Marketing, Tim Williamson comments: “Monarch Airlines is very much celebrating a ‘new’ summer this year with the addition of new routes and new aircraft. This could not come at a better time as we prepare ourselves for our busiest period; the airline will have over 5.5 million seats on sale over the summer period and expects by mid-August to have 1,118 one way departures per week.

“Coupled with the new routes and aircraft, the airline welcomes new cabin crew across all six of our UK bases. Recently taking to the skies, the successful crew members completed a 10-day intense ‘Customer Service Excellence’ course as part of their training to ensure that all our customers receive the same level of superior service on every Monarch flight.”

This week also sees the launch of the airlines new on-board meals, designed by Alpha LSGs’ Head Development Chef, Carl Jones who used feedback from Monarch customers. The meals take on a “world food” experience with dishes inspired by Italian, Moroccan, Thai and Indian cuisine – as well as the staple full English and sausage and mash! Meals are priced from £8.99 one way and now come with a complimentary PG Tips Tea or Kenco Coffee, which, normally retails on-board for £2.50.

It is important to both the airline and Alpha LSG to utilise British produce where possible and many of the components of Monarch’s in-flight meals are sourced from UK shores – including fresh vegetables, herbs and meat.
