MONARCH CELEBRATES HERITAGE WITH COMMEMORATIVE FLIGHT
Crew with a Combined Service of 100 Years Flying From Gatwick to Alicante on Monday 28th April
(Luton, UK –28, April 2014) - Monarch, the leading scheduled airline to leisure destinations is to celebrate its heritage of superior customer service with a special flight from London Gatwick to Alicante on Monday 28th April 2014. On-board service will be provided by five crew members who all joined Monarch in 1994 having successfully passed their Ab Initio course. The Ab Initio course is the first course that cabin crew must complete before starting their career with Monarch and is Latin for “The First”.
The crew on-board flight ZB252 will be Mark Bunyan, Jane Goodchild, Laura Chappell, Emma Strachan and Kerry Mitchell who, with 20 years of service each bring a century of excellence to the airline.

Since I joined last year, I’ve met people who have been part of the company for their entire career, the dedication and passion that our cabin crew have for Monarch is inspiring. Monarch received over 1,000 applicants for this years’ cabin crew vacancies, with successful candidates recruited based on their ability to deliver superior customer service, as well as excellent communication skills and their ability to work within a team, amongst many other valuable skills. The next generation of cabin crew are currently completing their courses and will be on board in time for the summer flying programme.
The celebration of 100 years of service will continue through the duration of the flight with centenary banners on board and competitions where customers can win flights or a bottle of champagne.
Jane Goodchild, Cabin Crew Base Manager at London Gatwick said: “We are all so pleased to be celebrating a centenary of service. The past 20 years have flown by but it’s still such a pleasure to be part of the Monarch team. I have made some good friends and continue to meet new and interesting people. I love flying and enjoy meeting our customers who are often on their way to their holiday destination. It gives each flight an air of excitement.”
