The British Air Transport Association (BATA) has appointed Danny Bernstein, non-executive chairman of Monarch Airlines and non-executive director of NATS Limited, as its new chairman. Danny succeeds Dave Hopkins who has retired after holding the post since 1990.

Danny Bernstein paid tribute to the enormous contribution made to the association by Dave Hopkins and said: “I am pleased to be joining BATA at this important time in the development of the UK airline industry and hope to build on the influential position that Dave Hopkins has created for BATA, both within the government and its members, who represent the majority of the UK airline industry.”

Dave Hopkins said: “I am delighted that Danny Bernstein has accepted this role as the experience and skills that he brings to BATA are vitally needed at this time.”

Notes to editor:
BATA represents UK-registered airlines, both scheduled and charter. Member airlines produce over 90% of UK airline output.
