- airline launches additional flights to Malaga and Menorca -
Low cost airline Monarch’s expansion in the north continues to go from strength to strength this summer with the launch of additional flights from Manchester to Malaga and Menorca.
A third daily* flight will launch on the Manchester-Malaga route from 01 May, bringing the total number of services to the popular Costa Del Sol to 20 a week. This represents an 11% increase in capacity on summer 2005 and means 206,000 seats will be available to the Spanish hotspot this summer.
In addition, an extra Friday flight from Manchester to Menorca launches on 05 May, bringing the total number of services to 4 a week. Just last month the airline launched this new service, offering the only direct flights from Manchester to the island, and reported “massive” demand for the new route.
Commenting on the increased frequencies, Tim Jeans, managing director of Monarch’s scheduled services said, “The launch of these additional flights is yet more good news for travellers from Manchester, meaning a greater number of people can take advantage of our great low fares and excellent service.
“The addition of a third daily flight to Malaga firmly positions us as market leader on this route and means travellers can now choose the time of day they fly with Monarch, offering maximum convenience especially for short breaks.
“We’ve been delighted with the response to our new flights from Manchester to Menorca - the first scheduled service to the island from any airport outside London, with over 19,000 advance bookings already taken. The fact that we’ve had to add these additional services is further proof of our ever-increasing popularity in Manchester, our biggest base in the UK.”
Monarch offers scheduled flights from Manchester to Alicante, Almeria, Barcelona, Faro, Gibraltar, Lanzarote, Malaga, Menorca, Palma and Tenerife. Fares, including taxes, start from just £40.50 one way (£66.99 return) and include complimentary daily newspapers and a refreshing hot towel service; also available is a unique range of tasty hot and cold meals with prices from £3.00. Seats can be pre-booked at £5 per one-way flight to avoid the last minute free-for-all, or you might prefer to try one of the 48 extra-legroom seats which offer up to six inches of extra space for just £15 each way. Regular travellers are rewarded too, with a range of benefits through the airline’s loyalty scheme, Vantage Club.
