Monarch Scheduled has invested in a state-of-the-art system, which will allow www.flymonarch.com to offer one of the fastest and most user-friendly booking engines available. At the same time the low cost airline has also introduced ticketless travel, making flying with Monarch Scheduled easier than ever.
Low cost airline Monarch Scheduled has introduced a new state-of-the-art IT system which will allow its website www.flymonarch.com to offer customers one of the fastest and most user-friendly website booking engines available. The new system, known as Open Skies is provided by US-based company Navitaire, and represents a substantial investment in its information technology.
Jonathan Crick, Monarch Scheduled’s commercial director explains the benefits of the new system; “Website bookings represent over 80 per cent of our direct bookings and this figure is growing. Today’s online bookers are looking for convenience and speed, and we therefore felt strongly that we should invest heavily in our systems to offer our customers the most powerful booking engine available. Booking on flymonarch.com will be faster, simpler and more intuitive.”
The introduction of this new system also means that the airline can now provide its direct passengers with ticketless travel, whether they are booking via the website or over the telephone. Instead of being issued a ticket, passengers booking online will receive an itinerary by email confirming their travel arrangements. Passengers booking over the phone will receive their itinerary by email or post.
Jonathan Crick commented; “The ticketless system enables our customers to make faster bookings, with more accurate and immediate confirmation. It also takes away the stress of worrying about receiving tickets and having to present them at check-in, or losing tickets, and will help us to keep our costs down so that we can offer even lower fares.”
Presenting the itinerary at check-in will speed the check-in process, but if a passenger loses it or forgets to bring it to the airport, their booking can still be located. Whereas before, if a passenger lost a ticket they would have to pay to have it re-issued.
