Low cost airline Monarch Scheduled, continues to go from strength to strength as it announces a 37% increase in passenger traffic during January 2005, when compared with the same period last year.

During this time, Monarch Scheduled flew 135,393 earned seats*, compared with 98,893 in January 2004. Capacity for the period increased by 16.4% year-on-year.

This news follows on from the low cost carrier’s announcement that it is to launch a new base in Birmingham in April, with flights operating to Faro, Alicante, Malaga and Tenerife. In addition, Monarch Scheduled also recently announced expansions at Manchester, with new routes to Almeria, Madrid and Naples, and at London Gatwick with new routes to Lisbon and Granada.
