Award winning low fare airline Monarch is delighted to announce a 12 month partnership with A Place in the Sun Live, through which the airline will be named as the official airline partner of the 2008 shows and undertake a series of activity around the events to highlight the destinations to which it flies and position itself as the airline of choice for overseas property owners.

The A Place in the Sun Live events are the world’s largest exhibitions of overseas property and are expected to attract over 70,000 visitors over four weekends this year - 75% of whom are serious about buying a home abroad. A spin off from the popular Channel 4 series and also hosted by Amanda Lamb, the events feature exhibitors from 40 countries worldwide and include expert seminar sessions offering advice on buying property overseas.

The shows kick off in Manchester on 29 February, with Monarch prominently featured on all pre and event support collateral. Monarch will also be present at the live shows offering visitors an experiential aircraft cabin experience featuring their extra legroom seating product plus the opportunity to win flights to one of Monarch’s scheduled European destinations.

Commenting on the announcement of the partnership, managing director of Monarch’s scheduled business, Liz Savage said, “We are delighted to be working with A Place in the Sun Live. The partnership firmly positions Monarch as the airline of choice for overseas property owners who fly frequently between the UK and their overseas property and benefit from Monarch’s year-round low fares, frequent flights and high levels of care which lead to an altogether enhanced flying experience.

“Customer research that was carried out during 2007 showed that 69% of our customers already own a property overseas, with a further 17% stating that they would like to*. This high percentage is reflective of the scheduled destinations to which Monarch flies which focuses predominantly on Spain, Portugal and Cyprus. This is also supported by A Place in the Sun’s recent publication of the UK’s top 20 overseas property destinations which sees Spain as the number one destination for the second consecutive year, with both Cyprus and Portugal also featuring within the top 12**.”

Monarch will be present at all A Place in the Sun Live events which will take place as follows:

Monarch operates scheduled flights to Spain, Gibraltar, Portugal and Cyprus from Birmingham, London Gatwick, London Luton and Manchester airports and was named as Leisure Airline of the Year in recent Travel Industry Awards for the second year in succession. In addition to year-round low fares, Monarch also offers a unique range of tasty hot and cold meals onboard with prices from £3.00. Seats can be pre-booked at £5 per one-way flight to avoid the last minute free-for-all experienced on some other airlines, or from only £15, extra-legroom seats are available, which offer up to six inches of extra space. Regular travellers are rewarded too, with a range of benefits through the airline’s loyalty scheme, Vantage Club.

Passengers travelling on scheduled flights can also avoid the queues at the airport and take advantage of online check-in which is available between seven days and 4.5 hours prior to departure.
