2008 News Archive - Flights - Monarch Airlines raises two million pounds for Macmillan Cancer Relief
06 01 2006
Monarch Airlines continues to help people living with cancer by raising £2 million for Macmillan Cancer Relief as a result of its onboard fundraising activity.
Since Monarch began supporting Macmillan over ten years ago, the airline has raised money through collecting donations of sterling and unwanted foreign currency on flights as well as taking part in Macmillan’s annual ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ both in the air and on the ground.
Peter Brown, Chief Executive of Monarch Airlines said “£2 million is a fantastic amount of money and we are very proud to have been able to support Macmillan Cancer Relief in this way. This figure was only achievable through the enthusiasm, hard work and dedication of our Cabin Crew and the generosity of our passengers and we look forward to continuing this support in helping people living with cancer.”
Peter Cardy, Chief Executive Macmillan Cancer Relief said “We are delighted with Monarch’s ongoing support and would like to thank every employee and passenger that has helped us with our vital work over the last 10 years. Our partnership with Monarch has been very successful - the £2 million raised has been directed to both national and local cancer services”
Monarch currently operates flights to over 100 destinations across the world from the UK’s principal and regional airports and collections for Macmillan Cancer Relief will continue on all future flights.
