2008 News Archive - Flights - Monarch appoints new chief financial officer

25 07 2005

Alistair Moffat has been appointed to the position of chief financial officer - Monarch, with responsibility for finance at Monarch Aircraft Engineering Ltd (MAEL) added to the remit he already held as finance director of Monarch Airlines. The move comes following the announcement that Adrian Jones, current finance director at Monarch Aircraft Engineering, is due to retire in July 2006.

Between July and October 2005, Adrian will remain responsible for the financial affairs of MAEL, whilst Alistair becomes familiar with the operation. Full responsibility will become Alistair’s on 1 October 2005, with Adrian remaining in place for assistance as required.

Norman Creveul, managing director, MAEL commented “Expanding Alistair’s role to include the management of MAEL’s finances has several advantages in terms of group operations. We look forward to welcoming Alistair to the Board of MAEL and will work hard to ensure a seamless transition in this extremely important area of the business.”

Alistair joined Monarch in 2001. As a graduate and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Alistair has many years experience in the transport industry, having previously held the position of finance director at First Group plc in its Scottish division, Alstom plc in its signalling division and Mainline Freight Limited. He has also held a number of senior positions within the rail industry.
