2008 News Archive - Flights - Monarch Scheduled carries pets

01 10 2003

Low cost carrier Monarch Scheduled has announced it is to carry pets on its flights under the Pets Passport Scheme introduced by DEFRA.

The service will appeal to many of Monarch Scheduled’s passengers who own property overseas and wish to take their pets with them. Whilst the service is available on all of Monarch Scheduled’s outbound flights from Luton, Gatwick and Manchester, animal reception centres are not available at Luton or Manchester, and so pets will only be permitted into the country on flights inbound to Gatwick.

Pets are carried in the hold only and are not permitted in the cabin. All animals are carried in strict accordance with the International Air Transport Association’s Live Animal Regulations and are placed on the aircraft by a specially trained member of Monarch Scheduled’s cargo agent, Airline Cargo Management Ltd.

Carriage of pets is subject to availability and a charge is made for each pet travelling. Monarch does not itself handle enquiries, which should be directed to Airline Cargo Management Ltd on 01753 68 68 52.
