MONARCH SCHEDULED launched Manchester’s first low cost, full service scheduled flights to Palma de Mallorca last Thursday (May 1) – and doubled flight frequencies to Alicante, Malaga and Faro.
Passengers travelling on the inaugural Palma flight were welcomed with cake and champagne at their departure gate to celebrate the occasion.
The expansion represents a 114 % increase in capacity from the north to meet growing demand for low cost flights.
Flights to Alicante and Malaga will depart twice daily through the summer, while Faro and Palma will be served daily.
Low fares start from just £39* one way**.
Monarch Scheduled’s commercial director Jonathan Crick said: “Our expansion for this summer represents significant growth - but is only the first stage of our development plans. We will continue to expand Monarch Scheduled’s northern operation over the coming years to further build upon our position as Manchester’s leading low cost carrier.”

**Update May 2004
Monarch Scheduled announced it is to introduce a new, innovative in-flight menu, which is available on all flights from 2004. Instead of offering the traditional set meal included in the price, passengers will now have the option of buying a delicious hot meal, freshly baked snack, light salad, imaginatively filled sandwich or full English breakfast - at any time of day.
Hot drinks are also available, plus a selection of wines, spirits and minerals. Fares include complimentary daily newspapers, hot towels, in-flight TV and reserved seating. A frequent flyer scheme - Vantage Club - offers a host of benefits for regular travellers.Previous Page
