2008 News Archive - Flights - Monarch Scheduled launches new flight from London Luton to Faro
02 05 2002
Luton-based Monarch Scheduled today launched its new service to Faro, in the Algarve Portugal from London Luton Airport. The inaugural flight took off from the airport this morning with 123 passengers on board.
The new service will operate from London Luton three times a week on a Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The new timetable compliments Monarch Scheduled’s existing programme to Alicante, Gibraltar, Malaga, Menorca and Tenerife.
In March, the airline also announced that it had changed its scheduled service brand Monarch Crown Service to simply Monarch Scheduled. At the same time it unveiled a new corporate identity and announced it was to change the design of its livery to the new colours of indigo and a brighter yellow, with gentle flowing curves on the tailpiece and fuselage. This replaces the black and gold striped livery, which had adorned Monarch’s aircraft for the last 34 years.
“The last couple of months have been an important time for us having launched the Monarch Scheduled brand and introduced a new livery for our aircraft,” Jonathan Crick, commercial director commented. “Since we launched our first scheduled flight from London Luton over 15 years ago we have continually expanded our programme in response to growing public demand. We’re delighted to be further adding to it, with this new scheduled service to Faro.”
Bookings can be made by calling 08700 40 50 40 or on-line via Monarch Scheduled’s website www.flymonarch.com.
Notes to editors: Monarch Scheduled also operates a timetable of flights from Manchester to Alicante, Faro and Malaga.
Update May 2004
Monarch Scheduled announced it is to introduce a new, innovative in-flight menu, which is available on all flights from 2004. Instead of offering the traditional set meal included in the price, passengers will now have the option of buying a delicious hot meal, freshly baked snack, light salad, imaginatively filled sandwich or full English breakfast - at any time of day.
Hot drinks are also available, plus a selection of wines, spirits and minerals. Fares include complimentary daily newspapers, hot towels, in-flight TV and reserved seating. A frequent flyer scheme - Vantage Club - offers a host of benefits for regular travellers.Previous Page
