2008 News Archive - Flights - Monarch Scheduled launches two new routes to Gran Canaria and Lanzarote
06 08 2004
Low cost airline Monarch Scheduled announces that it is to launch two new routes to Gran Canaria and Lanzarote from London Luton. Operating from 1 November, these new routes are added to the airline’s existing timetable of flights to Tenerife, making it one of the UK’s principal scheduled airlines to the Canary Islands.
Jonathan Crick, commercial director commented, “The Canaries have become an increasingly popular destination for independent travellers in recent years. The islands have seen a surge in people buying second homes, as well as golfers, walkers, watersports enthusiasts and holidaymakers looking to book their own accommodation on the internet. Consequently the demand for scheduled flights has increased significantly.”
The flights will operate on a weekly basis and fares will start from £67 per person one way. The addition of these two new routes brings the number of routes served by Monarch Scheduled from its bases at London Luton, London Gatwick and Manchester to eighteen*. Fares start from as little as £79 return (inc. taxes) and include pre-bookable allocated seating to avoid the last minute free-for-all, complimentary daily newspapers and in-flight entertainment and a refreshing hot towel service. Regular travellers are rewarded too, with a range of benefits through the airline’s loyalty scheme, Vantage Club.
Instead of offering the traditional set meal included in the price, passengers on Monarch Scheduled now have the option of buying a delicious hot meal, freshly baked snack, sandwich or full English breakfast from the recently launched in-flight menu. Hot drinks, plus a selection of wines, spirits and minerals are also available.
Monarch Scheduled has also teamed up with a number of other well-known companies to offer range of travel extras at beneficial rates including car hire, insurance, accommodation, airport parking and foreign currency. * Monarch Scheduled currently operates from London Luton to Alicante, Faro, Gibraltar, Malaga, Menorca and Tenerife, and from November 1, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote; from London Gatwick to Alicante, Faro and Malaga; from Manchester to Alicante, Barcelona, Faro, Gibraltar, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca and Tenerife.
