- low cost airline prepares to fly almost half a million people to sunnier climes -
As the kids break up for the summer and one of the busiest travel weekends of the year fast-approaches, low cost airline Monarch Scheduled is preparing for its busiest summer ever. The airline expects to carry 450,000 passengers during the school holidays, with sales for the period up by 52% on the same period last year.
Almost 20,000 of these will jet off this weekend in a ‘school’s out’ rush to getaway, fleeing the unpredictable British weather in favour of the more reliable sunshine hotspots of Alicante, Malaga and Tenerife, where temperatures are set to exceed a sizzling 30 degrees this summer.
Jonathan Crick, sales & marketing director, said, “We’re geared-up for our busiest ever summer, carrying a record number of passengers, with the added bonus this year of an extended range of destinations. We’re now offering even more citybreak-style locations such as Madrid, Lisbon, Granada, Barcelona and Naples, all of which are proving highly popular, as well as the traditional sunny spots in Mediterranean coastal resorts.”
It’s not too late to grab a great deal to the sun with Monarch Scheduled. There is currently availability in August to European hotspots including Faro, Malaga, Madrid, Lisbon and Tenerife from as little as £39 one way including tax* – just visit www.flymonarch.com and the brand new ‘Bargain Hunter’ tool will provide you with up-to-the-minute details of all the best deals still available on the site.
Monarch Scheduled operates flights to Italy, Spain, Gibraltar and Portugal from Birmingham, London Gatwick, London Luton and Manchester. Fares include complimentary daily newspapers and a refreshing hot towel service; also available is a unique range of tasty hot and cold meals with prices from £2.50. Seats can be pre-booked at £5 per one-way flight to avoid the last minute free-for-all and regular travellers are rewarded too, with a range of benefits through the airline’s loyalty scheme Vantage Club.
