Passengers should fasten their seatbelts once again this month as Monarch Scheduled traffic figures soar, with the airline carrying 58.6% more passengers in October 2005 compared to October 2004.

A total of 273,113* passengers flew with the airline in October 2005 against a figure of 172,187 passengers in the same month last year. This represents a 5.2% increase in load factor, which rose from 73.18% to 78.38% and saw online bookings via the airline’s website, www.flymonarch.com rise by 41%.

October 2005 also saw a record number of Monarch Scheduled passengers flying from Birmingham International Airport, with the total number of passengers reaching a staggering 29,000 during the month. This is the highest monthly traffic figure so far for the airline’s Midlands base, from which flights commenced in May 2005.

Monarch Scheduled operates flights to Spain, Gibraltar and Portugal from Aberdeen, Birmingham, Blackpool, London Gatwick, London Luton, Manchester and Newquay. Fares include complimentary daily newspapers and a refreshing hot towel service; also available is a unique range of tasty hot and cold meals with prices from £2.50. Seats can be pre-booked at £5 per one-way flight to avoid the last minute free-for-all, or you might prefer to try one of the 48 extra-legroom seats which offer up to six inches of extra space for just £15 each way. Regular travellers are rewarded too, with a range of benefits through the airline’s loyalty scheme, Vantage Club.
