30 09 2002
MONARCH has been voted top short-haul charter airline by travel agents. The airline beat off stiff competition from Britannia and Air 2000 to scoop first place at an annual travel industry awards event organised by trade magazine Travel Bulletin.
Commercial director Jonathan Crick said: “We were delighted to win this prestigious award, which reflects Monarch’s popularity among agents and the strength of our product in a competitive market. The accolade is all the more rewarding in view of the fact we have no travel agencies within our group and no direct influence amongst the voters for this award.”
As one of the UK’s largest leisure airlines and the principal independent supplier of charter seats to tour operators, Monarch flies nearly five million people to their holiday destinations every year.
The airline works with both large and small tour operators to cater for all types of passengers giving them the ability to choose their perfect holiday package.
Offering routes to over 100 destinations across Europe, America, Africa and Asia, Monarch charter flights operate out of major bases at London Gatwick, Manchester and regional airports across the UK.
Monarch also offers scheduled services, which fly from London Luton and Manchester Airports to Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar.
Operating one of the most modern and well-equipped fleets available today, Monarch has just taken delivery of two brand new Airbus A321s with further new aircraft due for delivery over the next few years.
Passengers can enjoy the state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment systems onboard, showing the latest movies and popular television shows and offering a selection of music channels to suit all tastes.
