March and April saw continued growth for award-winning low fares airline Monarch (www.monarch.co.uk), who reported a 2% increase in passenger numbers on its scheduled services over the two months compared to the same period last year.

Monarch’s passenger statistics for scheduled services during March/April 2008:

Load factor (2)

March/April 2008: 80.93%

March/April 2007: 81.31%

Internet sales percentage (3)

March/April 2008: 87%

March/April 2007: 90%

Overall, for both scheduled and charter services, Monarch carried a total of 948,720 passengers during March and April 2008.

March and April statistics have been combined to show a like for like comparison on the previous year’s statistics with Easter falling in March in 2007 and April in 2008.

1. Represents the number of earned seats flown by Monarch. Earned seats include seats that are flown whether or not the passenger turns up because once a flight has departed a no-show customer is not entitled to change flights or seek a refund.

2. Represents the number of passengers as a proportion of the number of seats available for passengers.

3. Represents the percentage of total seats sold via www.monarch.co.uk.
