2008 News Archive - Flights - More legroom for Monarch Scheduled passengers
24 05 2005
Monarch Scheduled is offering passengers up to six inches more legroom, as it revamps its fleet this winter. From mid November a 34" seat pitch will be available on up to 48 seats on the airlines’ Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
The airline is taking out a complete row of seats from each aircraft to enable more legroom to be offered, in response to demand from passengers for more space.
The additional cost for the new seats will be just £15 each way – bookable on line at flymonarch.com. Standard seats will remain available, with pre-booking available for £5 per flight.
Tim Jeans, Monarch Scheduled’s managing director said; “Our extra legroom seats are always the first to sell, so by the straightforward removal of a row of seats, we can create far more room for passengers, which after low fares, is what they tell us they want.”
“For a fraction of the fares BA charge for the same seat pitch, we will offer new levels of comfort, combined with Monarch Scheduled service of which we are rightly proud.”
Monarch Scheduled is the first low cost airline to take the initiative of removing seats as a way to enhance revenue in the face of falling fares.
Monarch Scheduled operates flights to Italy, Spain, Gibraltar and Portugal from Birmingham, London Gatwick, London Luton and Manchester. Fares include complimentary daily newspapers and a refreshing hot towel service; also available is a unique range of tasty hot and cold meals with prices from £2.50. Regular travellers are rewarded too, with a range of benefits through the airline’s loyalty scheme Vantage Club.
