September also saw Monarch Scheduled announce a major expansion of its services from Birmingham International Airport after a record breaking summer. The airline will launch three new routes to Spain for Summer 2006 – Murcia, Menorca and Palma de Mallorca. Monarch Scheduled will also increase capacity on existing services to Malaga, Faro, Alicante and Tenerife as well as doubling its fleet at the airport, thus generating an additional 60 jobs. Monarch Scheduled operates flights to Italy, Spain, Gibraltar and Portugal from Aberdeen, Birmingham, Blackpool, London Gatwick, London Luton, Manchester and Newquay. Fares include complimentary daily newspapers and a refreshing hot towel service; also available is a unique range of tasty hot and cold meals with prices from £2.50. Seats can be pre-booked at £5 per one-way flight to avoid the last minute free-for-all, or you might prefer to try one of the 48 extra-legroom seats which offer up to six inches of extra space for just £15 each way. Regular travellers are rewarded too, with a range of benefits through the airline’s loyalty scheme, Vantage Club. *Represents the number of earned seats flown by Monarch Scheduled. Earned seats include seats that are flown whether or not the passenger turns up because once a flight has departed, a no-show customer is not entitled to change flights or seek a refund.
