2008 News Archive - Flights - The great August get-away with Monarch
24 08 2006
Ahead of the August Bank Holiday, low fares airline Monarch is preparing for its busiest weekend ever with a record number of passengers booked to travel. Between Friday 25 and Monday 28 August, the airline will operate almost 400* flights and carry over 80,000 passengers to a range of top holiday hotspots.
Desperate to escape the continuing poor August weather in the UK, travellers are searching for warmer climes throughout Europe, with the top three destinations for scheduled flights this weekend being Malaga, Alicante and Tenerife. Faro is also featuring as a clear favourite with Monarch passengers, who are looking to make the most of the long weekend.
Commenting on the great August get-away, managing director of Monarch’s scheduled services, Tim Jeans, said, “It is great to see that the travelling public have not been deterred from getting away for the Bank Holiday weekend and will be escaping in their droves to our great sun destinations.
“Bookings throughout the month have continued to be strong and we are anticipating another record breaking month for the airline, carrying more passengers than ever before.”
Monarch operates scheduled flights to Spain, Gibraltar and Portugal from Aberdeen, Birmingham, Blackpool, London Gatwick, London Luton and Manchester. Fares include complimentary daily newspapers, a refreshing hot towel service and require no additional payment for checking-in baggage; also available is a unique range of tasty hot and cold meals with prices from £3.00. Seats can be pre-booked at £5 per one-way flight to avoid the last minute free-for-all, or for only £15, why not try one of the 48 extra-legroom seats which offer up to six inches of extra space? Regular travellers are rewarded too, with a range of benefits through the airline’s loyalty scheme, Vantage Club.
