17 04 2007

The skies of Spain will be filled with colour and balloons galore at the European Balloon Festival, a huge hot air balloon event that soars into action this summer.

Taking place in the town of Igualada the festival promises a high-flying treat for balloon enthusiasts, complete newcomers and everyone in between, with plenty for visitors of all ages to marvel at.

Expect plenty of pointing and gasping as an array of hot air balloons take to the skies at one of the largest events of its kind in the world, attracting some 25,000 spectators each year.

Somewhere in the region of 40 balloons are expected to feature at the event, guaranteed to provide an impressive spectacle for all onlookers.

When you're not staring skyward in wonder a selection of more down to earth attractions will be taking place, including market stalls and fresh local cuisine.

The European Balloon Festival takes place at Igualada, Barcelona from July 6th to 10th.
