Newer destinations in Mexico are ideal for travellers seeking holidays that offer more than just lying on a beach, it has been suggested.
Luxury Travel magazine is stressing that new resorts in the South American country could offer the ideal solution for those tourists that are looking for action-packed and unique holidays.
Alyson Cook, editor of the magazine, explained: "For those who are looking into the adventure market which is a growing part of the luxury travel experience, people want adventure and once in a lifetime experiences."
She added: "Oaxaca, Queretaro and Chiapas ... appeal to the younger market who want to go for something slightly different."
With over 6,000 miles of coastline, Mexico has some stunning scenery and in recent years the number of organised activities on offer to tourists has increased dramatically.
Visitors can now take horse trekking trips to discover the remote waterfalls and explore tropical forests before heading back to their hotel to indulge in luxury spa treatments.
