2008 News Archive - Holidays - A mix of the arts during a Croatian summer
30 04 2007
A heady mix of all the arts will be on display in the historic Croatian city of Split this summer as the Split Summer Festival takes place.
The organisers claim to host the "richest and the most brilliant tradition of the classical spectrum of performing arts", with jazz, street theatre and various other art forms also available.
Having first started up in 1954, the Split Summer Festival has become one of Europe's premier mixed-art events, featuring drama, opera, ballet and art exhibitions over the course of the month-long event.
When not attending the vast array of events at the festival, there are many attractions to be found in Split, such as the historic Roman walls and Diocletian's Palace, built during the 3rd Century AD.
The Split Summer Festival runs between July through August 2007.
