Visitors to Tuscany in August will be able to enjoy a slice of Italian lifestyle during the yearly Tuscan Sun Festival.
On August 4th, Italian legend Sophia Loren will open the event, which has been named as one of the top ten summer arts festivals in Europe by the Independent.
A gala concert conducted by her son will pay tribute to the sultry actress's late husband, film producer Carlo Ponti.
A host of musicians will participate in the musical programme of the event, which is now in its fifth year.
But visitors to Cortona will also be able to sample the good life Italians are famous for with various lectures including cooking demos and wine tastings.
Wellness sessions, including instruction in tai chi and Chinese acupuncture, will be held in various locations in the picturesque town.
The Tuscan Sun Festival runs until August 16th, so visitors might do well to book a villa holiday in the area and immerse themselves in local culture for the duration of the event.
The nearest airport to Cortona is Perugia, some 53 kilometres away, while Florence is just over an hour's drive from the hub of festival activity.
