Famed for sunshine and siestas Spain may not be everyone's destination of choice for an autumnal break.
However, visitors to the Andalusia area will be in for a treat as the Festival del Otono is held between September 8th and the 24th in Jerez de la Fontera, according to Whatsonwhen.
Also known as the Autumn Festival, the event celebrates the grape harvest with entertainment provided around this Spanish town.
Horses and flamenco are also themes of the festivities, with a renowned equestrian club in the town that will be providing shows and parading the highest pedigree of their favourite animals.
Known as the cradle of flamenco, Jerez de la Fontera will enrapture audiences with traditional flamenco music and dancing, as well as concerts, classes and even some puppetry.
Surely a delight for any visitor, the highlight of the event is the grape blessing, which sees doves released from the Collegiate Church.
Jerez de la Fontera is located in the province of Cadiz and is known for its cattle and horse breeding operations in its local area.
