2008 News Archive - Holidays - BBC star heading to Gran Canaria

12 05 2008

Families taking a holiday in Gran Canaria this autumn might find themselves sharing a beach with one of the BBC's leading journalists.

Jeremy Vine - who is perhaps most famous for presenting Panorama as well as his award-winning despatches from Africa - is set to be on the island in early October, when he attends a travel convention organised by the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta).

Last year's conference took place in Tenerife, where Vine made such an impression that he has been invited to speak again this year.

"We are privileged that Jeremy will guide us through the business sessions again," Abta chief executive Mark Tanzer told Tenerife News.

"He did a fantastic job last time. He’s a real pro, keeps everyone on their toes and ensures lively debate throughout."

Vine has become one of the BBC's most respected news journalists since joining in 1987.
