2008 News Archive - Holidays - Brits celebrate pre-wedding antics in Europe

14 08 2007

Brits are partying further away from home, as stag and hen dos are increasingly taking a place in European cities, an expert has said.

Managing director of lastminute.com UK John Bevan has observed in increase in cheaper flights in recent years, which has meant revellers are travelling further afield.

He named Barcelona and eastern European destinations as popular choices with party goers intent on enjoying the rituals of pre-wedding celebrations.

"Hen and stag dos are no longer just about that last night of freedom, instead people are increasingly taking longer breaks to popular European cities," he remarked.

Mr Bevan also noted that more companies are offering activity-based package breaks and that travellers would be wise to check their travel insurance policies to ensure they are covered to take part in such activities abroad.

Last week, Carol Richardson of Confetti noted the increase of Brits celebrating stag and hen parties around Europe, commenting that the celebrations often continue over an entire weekend.
