06 03 2008
British holidaymakers may find themselves competing for early morning sun beds on their holidays this summer, it has been reported.
According to lastminute.com, an increasing number of "wealthy" Russian holidaymakers are choosing to spend their holidays in resorts traditionally favoured by the British.
It is even reported that some are "paying hotel staff to reserve them the best beds", a move the company claims makes them "popular" with the hotel staff.
"The hoteliers focus for the Russians market, mainly at the expense of German tourists, has changed the in-resort holiday experience," commented lastminute.com UK Managing Director John Bevan.
He added that British tourists would have to devise a "sun bed strategy" in order to attain a tan while abroad this summer.
Destinations favoured by Russian holidaymakers according to the travel company are Egypt, Greece, Italy, Spain and Turkey.
