It has been suggested by experts that holidays are necessary for relaxation and playtime.
A study conducted by the Manchester Metropolitan University and commissioned by Eurocamp, the camping holiday specialist, has found an exact formula with which to calculate how long UK residents need to spend relaxing and enjoying themselves to have a good work-life balance.
The research found that 90 minutes of playtime each day should suffice, but as this is difficult to achieve for some people, mini-breaks and holidays could cover any shortfall.
Ruth Start, UK head of sales and marketing with Eurocamp, suggests Brits should embrace the outdoors and learn new creative skills, as well as spending quality time with family and friends as a way of soothing the soul.
"We're probably not getting quite enough quality play as we need and for most of us the only way is to rely on a holiday in the sun to get our annual quota," she remarks.
It was reported in the Telegraph recently that many "cash-rich time-poor" women are booking themselves in for luxurious and relaxing getaways.
