2008 News Archive - Holidays - Bulgaria is 'cheapest holiday spot'

30 04 2008

Bulgaria has been revealed to be the cheapest country in the Balkans, according to a new study.

Research from EU statistical authority Eurostat revealed Bulgaria to be the cheapest country in the west Balkans and also within the European Union, the Sofia Echo reports.

According to the publication, this study backs up data founds in 2006 from the National Statistical Institute.

Costs for those on holidays in Bulgaria are equal to prices in Serbia and Macedonia.

The study also revealed Bulgaria to be a much cheaper holiday spot than countries such as Romania, Montenegro and Albania.

Food prices in Bulgaria and Macedonia were shown to be the cheapest.

Sunny Beach is a popular holiday resort for those travelling to Bulgaria on holidays.

Post Office recently reported that non-eurozone countries such as Bulgaria may benefit from the rising strength of the euro against the pound as holidaymakers look elsewhere.
